# Talk2me

> Talk2me is private voice typing. Hold a key, talk, let go: your words appear wherever you type. Speech to text runs on your own computer by default, so your voice never leaves your machine. No account, no tracking, and your voice is never used to train AI. Made in Montréal, Canada. Mac now (Apple silicon, macOS 13 or later); Windows and Linux next.

Current Mac version: 2.18.2 (published 2026-09-30). Status: private beta, free, invite-only. Anyone can join the waitlist at https://talk-2.dev/#get-waitlist.

## Key facts for agents

- Processing: on-device speech to text by default (local voice models such as Qwen3 ASR, Parakeet and Whisper). Works offline after a one-time model download.
- Optional cloud engines use the user's own API key, sent straight from their machine to that provider. Each route is tagged "100% private", "Private · ZDR" or "Not private".
- Data: Talk2me never receives users' audio, words, files or keys. It never trains on user data. No account.
- Usage statistics: anonymous counts only, and only if the user says yes. None are sent today.
- Shortcut on Mac: hold Control + Option, talk, release. Works in any app with a text field.
- Distribution: invite-gated download at https://talk-2.dev (ad hoc signed, not yet notarized by Apple).

- Price: free during the private beta, then 10 USD a year. (Wispr Flow Pro: 144 USD a year.)
