Dictation for lawyers
Dictate client work. Keep it on your Mac.
Talk2me turns your voice into text on your Mac's own chip. Memos, client emails, file notes and drafts never pass through a third-party server, so there is no outside copy to keep, review or train on.
Free in beta, then $10 a year. No account, no card. Mac with Apple silicon.
Why cloud dictation is a confidentiality question
ABA Model Rule 1.6(c) asks lawyers to "make reasonable efforts to prevent the inadvertent or unauthorized disclosure of, or unauthorized access to, information relating to the representation of a client." In Formal Opinion 512 (29 July 2024), the ABA ethics committee asks lawyers to understand how a generative AI tool uses what they put in, and says informed client consent is needed before client information goes into a self-learning tool.
Many AI dictation apps transcribe in the cloud, and some use dictation to improve their models by default. Each one is a vendor to review and a policy to watch. With Talk2me's local voice model, there is no vendor in the path: the words stay on the Mac you already trust with the file.

How Talk2me helps
On your Mac
With the default local voice model, your audio becomes text on your Mac. It never reaches us or anyone else.
Never trained on
We never receive your words, so no model can learn from them. Not with consent, not anonymized, not later.
No account
No sign-up and no user record. Nothing ties your dictation to you.
Strict privacy
One switch in Settings keeps every step on your Mac, including text cleanup. No cloud route is possible.
Your vocabulary
A personal dictionary spells party names, case names and Latin your way, every time.
In court and on the road
Works offline: in a courthouse, on a train, in a client office with no guest Wi-Fi.
Good to know
- Mac only today: Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 15 or later. Windows and Linux are next.
- If you choose a cloud voice engine instead of the default, your audio goes straight from your Mac to that provider, with your own API key, and its policy applies. Settings tags every route 100% private, Private · ZDR or Not private before you choose it.
- Talk2me types what you say while you hold two keys. It is not a meeting or call recorder.
- Talk2me is in a private beta. For a firm-wide trial, write to hello@talk-2.dev.
Questions
Does Talk2me send client information anywhere?
Not with the default local voice model: audio and text stay on your Mac. Talk2me never receives your voice or your words. Strict privacy, one switch in Settings, keeps every step local.
Is Talk2me a self-learning AI tool?
No. The voice models run on your Mac and do not learn from what you dictate. We never receive your words, so nothing you say trains any model.
Can my firm check this?
Yes. Turn off Wi-Fi and dictate: it still works. A network monitor shows no traffic while you dictate. Our privacy policy lists every network request the app makes.
